2008 NPRC Competition Standings

The 2008 National Patrol Rifle Conference & Competition was once again a huge success!!  We would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to Oakland Co. Sheriff Dept., Multi-Lakes Conservation Association, and the MTOA for their assistance.  We also need to say thank you to all the volunteers that put their time and energy into pulling this event off again...THANK YOU!

Would like to congratulate this year's TOP GUN Champion who was SGT Mark Stout from West Bloomfield TWP PD, MI., with an overall score of 1144 points.  Not only did he take home the NPRC Cup but also took home a LaRue Tactical Stealth Upper Receiver....Job well done Mark!
The competitor field was a tough one this year, with 136 shooters as well as new courses of fire that not only challenge the shooters marksmanship abilities but their physical fitness.  For those of you that were not able to attend this year, here is a brief overview;
The 08 NPRC was divided into 2 different catergories, OPTICS & IRONS, needless to say optics dominated the event, especially magnified optics at the STATIC MARKSMANSHIP with engagements out to 150 yards.  The CQB Active Shooter found that reflex style sights along with iron sights leveled the playing field against those that had magnified optics.  Bank Of America, had the shooters engaging multiple targets from an awkward shooting position simulating the situation that transpired in North Hollywood and engaging the legs of the suspect from under a scout car.  Know Your Limitations found the shooter using his/hers judgement on the interactive live fire simulator manufactured by C.A.P.S.
Finally the GIG PIT, challenge the shooter's physical ability by forcing the competitor to negotiate a number of obsticals before engaging a hostage rescue target....this evolution of fire was not only the tie breaker for a number of competitors, but also proved what piece of equipment worked and what didn't.

The competition was followed by a Sponsor / Vendor Receptitiion, were the competitiors and attendees had the oppurtunity to mingle and network with our outstanding SPONSORS & VENDORS as well tell their war stories from earlier in the day.  Following the receptition the Banquet was held where everyone had the oppurtunity to hear from an outstanding and motivating speaker, LTC David Grossman.  The night ended with the awards being handed out and fun time had by all.
For those of you that participated this year, pat yourself on the back for a job WELL DONE, you tested not only your gear but more importantly your training and we hope you took home something of value from this experience.  If you were not able to attend, we hope that you are able to come next year...once again to all of our brothers and sisters doing the job, STAY SAFE and continue to AIM FOR PREFERCTION!!
