CMI DEFENSIVE CARBINE SEMINAR                                                                                1st Tuesday of the month 6-9 p.m.

This seminar (class room only) is the best material that we have to educate the attendee on self defense and safety using a carbine. It features all of the “latest and greatest” gear, hardware, and other issues you need to know about if you choose to use a carbine for self-protection. Topics include the need for a rifle, an overview on ballistics, ammunition selection, zeroing for the close quarters application, various rifles, slings, optics, lights, magazine carriers and much more.

Students do not need to bring any equipment or gear with them. Note taking materials are advised. Students receive a certificate of training, various handouts, and a CMI T-Shirt.

CMI DEFENSIVE CARBINE #1 (Iron sight)                                                                       2nd Thursday of the month 6-9 p.m.

Our Defensive Carbine #1 School serves as an excellent basic skills course. It is designed for those looking for a pure shooting school to learn basic rifle marksmanship and carbine manipulation. It is also a good refresher for seasoned carbine users. It features the best of what we know about the fundamental use of the carbine/rifle. This course focuses on the prone and standing fight positions, clearing stoppages, fire control manipulation, zeroing for close quarters application, reloading and various courses of fire designed to master this static mode of the learning process.

Students need to bring their carbine with sling, 100 rounds of factory carbine ammunition, eyes and ears. Note taking materials are advised. Students receive a certificate of training, various handouts, and a CMI T-Shirt or ball cap.

Prerequisite:  Attendance at CMI’s Defensive Carbine Seminar is recommended but not mandatory. Students must possess a valid Concealed Pistol License.

CMI DEFENSIVE CARBINE #1.5 (Optics)                                                                             3rd Tuesday of the month 7-9 p.m.

Our Defensive Carbine #1.5 is an abbreviated version of our Defensive Carbine #1 course. Students attending this course must have attended CMI’s Defensive Carbine #1. This course takes the skills the student learned in Carbine #1 and applies them while using an optic in the close quarter battle environment. Subjects include zeroing and various courses of fire designed to master this static mode of the learning process. In addition, this course is an excellent opportunity for the student to test and evaluate multiple optics as students are allowed to fire rifles outfitted with various optics so they can make an informed decision on what they believe works best for them.    

Students need to bring their carbine with sling and optic, 100 rounds of factory carbine ammunition, eyes and ears. Note taking materials are advised. Students receive a certificate of training, various handouts, and a CMI T-Shirt or ball cap.

Prerequisite:  Attendance at CMI’s Defensive Carbine#1 is mandatory. Students must possess a valid Concealed Pistol License.

CMI DEFENSIVE CARBINE #2 (The Building Blocks)                                                     3rd Thursday of the month 6-9 p.m.

Our Defensive Carbine #2 is a completely hands-on course. The course begins with the basics of fighting/defending with a rifle in close quarters, then progresses to vital applications of this discipline to include positional shooting (seated, kneeling, weak side), use of cover, shooting on the move, transitioning to the handgun and weapon retention.  Evolutions of fire are designed to master this static mode of the learning process.

Students need to bring their carbine with sling (iron sight or optic), 150 rounds of factory carbine ammunition, ball cap, long pants (no shorts), long sleeve shirt with collar, eyes and ears. Students also need to bring their pistol with a holster and 50 rounds of pistol ammunition for transition drills. Note taking materials are advised. Students receive a certificate of training, various handouts, and a CMI T-Shirt or ball cap.

Prerequisite:  Attendance at CMI’s Defensive Carbine #1 and must possess a valid Concealed Pistol License.

CMI DEFENSIVE CARBINE #3 (The Dynamic Stage)                                                        4th Thursday of the Month 6-9 p.m.

Our Defensive carbine #3 takes the student from the static mode of learning to the dynamic mode of learning. Students are introduced to moving targets, low light conditions and dynamic evolutions of fire. The courses of fire incorporate stress inducers such time, scoring rings and physical exertion to help replicate the level of stress that the student may encounter in a real life deadly force situation. 

Students need to bring their carbine with sling (iron sight or optic), the student must have either a weapon mounted light or a handheld flashlight, 200 rounds of factory carbine ammunition, ball cap, long pants (no shorts), long sleeve shirt with collar, eyes and ears. Note taking materials are advised. Students receive a certificate of training, various handouts, and a CMI T-Shirt or ball cap.

Prerequisite:  Attendance at CMI’s Defensive Carbine #1 & #2 and must possess a valid Concealed Pistol License.

CMI DEFENSIVE CARBINE #4 (Tactical Decision Making/CAPS Live Simulator)         4th Sunday of the month 4-8 p.m.

Our Defensive Carbine #4 (Tactical Decision Making) combines elements from Defensive Carbine #1, #2 and #3 to put you in the most realistic training environment. This is considered the interactive training mode and is by far the most important element of the learning process. In addition to developing the skills necessary to use a Carbine in self-defense, the single most important knowledge a responsible gun owner can possess is knowing when he or she is justified using deadly force. Students will receive live-fire training on a state of the art CAPS (Canadian Academy of Practical Shooting) DVD simulator. The CAPS motto is, "your gun, your ammo, no excuses". After receiving detailed classroom instruction on appropriate use of force, students will use their carbine and ammunition on life-size video live fire scenarios.

Students need to bring their carbine with sling (iron sight or optic), 50 rounds of factory carbine ammunition, ball cap, long pants (no shorts), long sleeve shirt with collar, eyes and ears. Students also need to bring their pistol with a holster and 10 rounds of pistol ammunition for transition drills. Note taking materials are advised. Students receive a certificate of training, various handouts, and a CMI T-Shirt or ball cap.

Prerequisite: Attendance at CMI’s Defensive Carbine #1, #2 and #3 and must possess a valid Concealed Pistol License.
