Advanced CPL Low Light Tactics/Threat management                                            Last Wednesday of the month 6-10 p.m.

Instructors from CMI will provide training that goes beyond what is taught in the basic Firearms Safety/CPL courses.  Most violent crimes occur during the hours of darkness, or in diminished light. Yet, most training takes place in daylight and little training is available on the key principles of low-light tactics, or in the proper deployment of the flashlight as a defensive tool for civilians. Students will improve their ability to survive and prevail in low-light engagements by learning the proper use of a flashlight and weapon in situations ranging from routine activities to lethal force encounters.  Topics covered will include flashlight selection (both handheld and weapon mounted), low light threat identification, using light as a force option, and principles of low light tactics.  Students will be taught a variety of handheld flashlight techniques (Harries, Rogers/Surefire, Neck Index, and Modified FBI) that can be used in conjunction with a handgun. Students will also receive instruction on dedicated weapon mounted lights and deployment techniques. This is a unique training opportunity for the responsible CPL holder and includes both classroom instruction and live fire low light shooting.

Students should bring the handgun they use for self protection, 100 rounds of practice ammo, and 50 rounds of carry ammunition.  Students are encouraged to bring their own appropriate tactical light (if they own one) and will have an opportunity to try a variety of quality lights from several manufacturers.

Advanced CPL Concealed Carry/Defensive Handgun Skills                                              3rd Sunday of the Month 12-8 p.m.

Instructors from CMI will provide training that goes beyond what is taught in the basic Firearms Safety/CPL courses. Most courses for CPL certification provide minimal training on how to actually carry and safely deploy a concealed pistol as a daily self defense tool.  This course will provide detailed classroom instruction and demonstration of concealed carry equipment. This will include selecting an appropriate carry method and holster for your lifestyle such as ankle, pocket, belt, or shoulder carry. Students will be taught the best methods to carry spare ammunition for both the revolver and auto pistol, so the reload is both secure and quickly accessible. On the range students will receive instruction on how to safely draw from concealment and rapidly engage targets, perform reloads, and properly re-holster their handgun. Students will also be provided instruction in other advanced shooting techniques including shooting while moving, multiple targets, and engaging moving targets.

Students should bring the handgun they carry with concealed carry gear, 200 rounds of ammunition, spare magazines for auto pistols or rapid reload device for the revolver (speedloader, moon clip, or speed strip).  Students will have the opportunity to try a variety of quality concealed carry holsters and accessories from a variety of manufacturers.

Advanced CPL Tactical Decision Making/CAPS Live Simulator                                       2nd Sunday of the month 4-8 p.m.

Instructors from CMI will provide training that goes beyond what is taught in the basic Firearms Safety/CPL courses.  In addition to developing the skills necessary to use a firearm in self defense, the single most important knowledge a responsible gun owner can possess is knowing when he or she is justified using deadly force.  Students will receive live-fire training on a state of the art CAPS (Canadian Academy of Practical Shooting) DVD simulator.  The CAPS motto is, "your gun, your ammo, no excuses". After receiving detailed classroom instruction on appropriate use of force, students will use their firearm and ammunition on life-size video live fire scenarios.

Students will need to bring the handgun and ammunition (50 rounds) they have selected for self defense.
