DESCRIPTION: This program is designed to provide civilians the basic skills needed to bridge the gap between point of injury and arrival of first responders and eventual transport to definitive care.
The foundation of the training is based on Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) which is the civilian translation of the military’s widely successful Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC). The training is intended to enhance survival from multiple types of traumatic injury to include massive bleeding, penetrating chest injuries, airway compromise and hypothermia.
Participants will learn to apply medical interventions in response to violent attacks. The use of specialized medical equipment to include tourniquets and hemostatic agents along with the use of individual first aid kits (IFAKs) will be detailed. Participants will be introduced to basic techniques to increase situational awareness to better identify signs of danger and imminent attacks all with an emphasis in prevention and efficient reaction.
